Dysport
Dysport is a prescription injection used in aesthetic medicine to temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles caused by repetitive facial movements. Like Botox and other neuromodulators, Dysport is derived from botulinum toxin type A, a purified protein that reduces muscle activity. It has been FDA-approved for cosmetic use since 2009.
Common areas treated include:
- Glabellar lines (vertical lines between the eyebrows)
- Forehead lines
- Crow’s feet (lines at the outer corners of the eyes)
- Bunny lines (lines on the bridge of the nose)
- Lip lines or a gummy smile (off-label uses)
- Neck bands or horizontal lines (off-label)
Dysport offers several key benefits for patients seeking non-surgical facial rejuvenation. One of the main advantages is its relatively fast onset. Many patients begin to see improvement within 2 to 3 days after treatment, which is slightly faster than Botox® or Daxxify®, which typically take 7-10 days for visible effects.
Another benefit is that Dysport may last slightly longer in some patients, with results potentially lasting up to five months, although this varies by individual. The differences in longevity are often subtle, but they may influence a patient’s preference for one product over another. Dysport is a good option for maintenance of natural facial expression.
Dysport is a safe, effective, and minimally invasive option for individuals seeking to reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and refresh their facial appearance. With quick treatment times, little to no downtime, and natural-looking results, it remains a popular choice for patients who want to maintain a youthful expression without undergoing surgery.
