Protecting Our Protectors: Dr. Neelam Khan Leads Skin Cancer Screenings for DC First Responders
In a recent initiative featured by Georgetown University, Dr. Neely Khan served as the lead dermatologist and sponsor for a three-day skin cancer screening event for Washington, D.C. firefighters and EMS personnel.
Firefighters face a significantly higher risk of melanoma due to occupational hazards. To give back to these local heroes, Dr. Khan teamed up with Georgetown medical students and We Rock Cancer to provide lifesaving spot checks for approximately 200 first responders.
“This initiative allows us to give back to these heroes by ensuring they have access to potentially lifesaving skin cancer checks,” says Dr. Khan.
